Hello my fellow baddies,
this week’s blogpost is quite something else! The two depicted babes you see I met at one of the festivals I’ve been to this year. Lucky to me, since, besides being inexplicable hot as you can see, they are not only the sweetest darlings, but also the funniest. From sexy jello shot contests (don’t ask), to my little pony leggings, to backstagememorys with memory loss and something called a “Gaudikrapferl”, to consuming what you’ll read about in this weeks drip tip, they made me fall head over heels in love with them in just a few days. By the end of this article, you will be too, only by their faces, I’m sure. Well, and I had the pleasure of them babes visiting me over!
For sure, I love to dress myself. Otherwise, I would have never started this little thing here. But there is some special kind of fun in dressing and styling other people. Fashion always seems a bit different on each person, based on their size, on their height, on their attitude. And as dressing to me almost is like drawing a picture every day, it is hella fun to change up the canvas. So if you’re up for a styling + photo session, hit me up. I’d be delighted to dress you, too.
Now on to the promised fall trends, we still are in autumn edition and by the rain that is pouring down at the moment, I bet nobody missed the change of season by now...
This week we take a closer look at: Jackets. In particular, bomber jackets and the oversized suit coat.
It shouldn’t be a surprise that once the degrees are falling, we can unpack some of our dusted coats. LUCKY TO ME. If there is one thing I own too much of, it must be jackets. I love how they transform and add up to every look.
An outfit is never complete to me without the perfect jacket. Which sometimes leads to the one or other mental breakdown, WELL. Now you have a reason for 70% of the time when I’m late. Anyway – no surprise, too, that we find different variations of jackets on the fall runways.
It never has been particularly out of style, you will have seen this baby over the last years. New is, that they’ve been seen on this years runways again (Stella McCartney and Prada, for those of you interested).
But enough with the formal blahblah, why do we love a bomber jacket?
Oh dear it’s so comfy. That must be one of the main reasons. Then, it keeps warm, but not ovenbaked-hot. Perfect autumn equip. Then - and that is one very big pleasure to me - it makes you look so cool, instantly. Which is why you can perfectly wear it with almost everything that you want to seem more effortless.
Could be a slipdress, could be the combination dear Consey is wearing here (more on to that in the next paragraph), could be a mini skirt with platform boots, loose jeans and doc’s, … the list is forever. This years favourite must be a combination with 22’s favourite pants, the cargos.
Whatever combination you choose your cargo jacket to, when you don’t already own one, be brave enough to get a bold one. They come cropped, in bopping colours, with patches, in leather, whatever it may be - have the courage to stand out with yours. You gonna love this piece forever.
On to Conseys combination:
This look is Y2K on top, mixed with Equestrienne (cool word for a woman who rides horses) on the bottom, rounded up by a few details.
We see a tailored pants combined with kitten heel boots. I paired that with a cut-out rhinestone crop top, which adds some play to the otherwise rather serious look. On top, comes the black vintage bomber jacket, plus a chain that we clipped on the pants, to add a bit of cool. Not enough this and that yet, I liked the rectangular orange-tinted glasses, as they wonderfully play with the Y2K vibe of the top she is wearing. To make a colour match we added the orange Guess-Bag. The bucket hat on top rounds up the chic vibe of the pants and boots.
This look might be rather outgoing, but we love to channel our inner bad b!tch, ‘eh? And I wouldn't know anyone who could work it more perfectly than sweet Consey does here.
Option 2: wear jeans and sneakers to that, would look just as amazing and less daring.
I’ve been talking about the power of a good suit in the last post already a bit; today we are rather focussing on broad shoulders and dressing our feminine bodys in clothes out of the mens section.
As seen by Balenciaga i.e., broad shoulders make a return. And the easiest way to mimic those is by blazers. Boyfriend blazers, in particular. Size them up as big as possible. The nice thing about those is that they give shape. Whoever might wear them, they will make you look boxy. Now I suppose this trend may be easier for our petite baddies at first glance, but I’m absolutely sure there is the fitting oversized blazer for our plus bad’s as well. Just try around with different sizes and don’t be afraid to go big. I think I’ve never set foot in a vintage store that didn’t have a blazer jacket for everyone, so try your luck there.
Sooo, what are we wearing our blazer then with, madame? As I was accentuating, we are going for BIG because we love to wear them as a dress. Just as good ol’ Carrie taught us in Sex and the City (I’m such a Clichée sometimes pls stop me oh god but this show has my heart, its such a feelgood and samantha is my spirit animal ok i will NOT apologize). (Big pun intended) (only the real SATC fellows will understand) … I am digressing.
As the broad shoulders do make us boxy, we want to bring symmetry to the eye again, which means - go smaller on other body parts.
For example, acentuate the waist and the legs and you make for a beautiful hourglass. You could also opt for a simple combination with tights, without the waist and go for a more effortless, less sexy look. Or you add a fanny pack to mimic techno fashion accessorize and cool that waist look up again, like I did on Hannah. And on the bottom? A short skirt, a dress, or something sheer. Emphasizing the legs, as I said. If you’re attention already is on the shoulders, you don’t want nothing to distracting elsewhere, or the look can seem uneasy.
Now what did I throw Hannah in and why? I really loved the idea of a blazer dress on her petite bodyshape. Then again, Hannah is one of the toughest baddies I’ve ever met, so I knew that look had to be cool.
We opted for some sheer pants with a swirl print, to add a tiny bit of colour in the look. Though the key of this look lies in the accessorizing. For once, there is the belt with the big buckle, accompanied by a leather fanny pack. These, with the Plateau-Doc Martens are the techno accessorizing I’ve been talking about. Next thing are the Cat-Eye Glasses, that rather compliment the class of the blazer. The leather gloves are creating a bridge between the technoesque-accessorizing of belt and bag with the classy pieces. All in all you got a very decent casual look.
Option 2: Switch out the docs for some heels and you got a chique (still cool) version.
Now as if that wasn’t enough inspiration already, here are this weeks Drip-Tips!
Plural? OH YEAH. As these angels were so lovely to lend me their time and faces for a post, they naturally get the chance to give you a drip tip, which is…
FILAX
What is that? Some might say it is a coarse drink, I’d say you should try before judging. Here is the recipe:
1 Dipper Instant Ice Tea (Crumbled, preferably Citrus)
3 Dipper Korn (Liquor)
9 Dippers Tap Water
Mixed in a canister. Voilá.
Scared of them baddies now? Rightly so. Don’t fuck with ‘em.
Yoko Drip Tip:
Only half a Yoko Drip Tip, as I already mentioned it in the text before and most definitely in another post already, so it rather serves as a friendly reminder: buy bigger sizes (comfy + cool), buy men’s area (higher quality, surprisingly cool pieces). For the men: check womans area, too. Always remember that size is just a guideline, nothing strict and always adjustable to your wish of fit.
