Hello sweets,
been a while since I last caught up with you! Momma was on holiday and felt a lot of Weltschmerz afterward. It just didn’t feel particularly right to babble about fashion while people suddenly lose their home and much more. More thoughts on that you’ll find below in the last paragraph.
Besides, I enjoyed a couple of days with my beloved girls on the seaside, have been catching up with people I haven’t seen for a long time, started some interesting projects that will take place in the near future that I am very excited to show you once they take form (this will rather happen on my insta, so keep your eyes open over there) aaand been sick for another week! But Momma is back on track, out of bed and the temperatures are rising exponentially, just as my mood is.
Contributing to the rising temperatures, you’ll find the first spring look today! Once the temperature goes above 10°C I feel the desperate urge to unpack my slippers and walk out of the house without socks on. And as long as the sun was out I didn’t even freeze my tooth off in this look. Besides feeling the need to unpack my feet to greet spring, I somehow always enter the blooming season in a very casual jeans-shirt combination. But would I be Yoko if I didn’t try to dazzle a little extra something in there? Like one of my favourite clips on the internet says, I daut it. And that is what we find here - a very easy spring look, with a little extra something.
I also feel kind of hip-hoppy and gangsta at the moment, listening to my favourite female hip-hop artisiennes. Hence, the shirt. It is a very oversized, loose white shirt that doesn’t give a single hint of your body shape - lovely and perfect for every occasion where you will eat more than it would be good for your stomach. The shirt itself is a little see through - when I feel cheeky I just wear a bralette underneath, here I decided to wear a white razorback. This keeps you warm the tiniest bit more, for when the typical spring breeze is trying to sweep away the remains of the winter. But not significantly warm, I won’t lie to you.
Along with the shirt I opted for straight ripped vintage Hugo Boss-Jeans. A pair of denim, that is slowly and steadily falling apart, and just growing their sparkle in appearance while doing so even more. I love the simplicity of authentic denim. And with that, we have the base of the look.
Onto the accessories, that make this look striking. I paired it with a snake-print scarf. Best thing about scarfs is you can do so many things with them - wear them on the head, as a belt, as a little extra something tied around your bag, on your neck, (if large enough) as a top - almost endless options. Contributing to the Y2K movement, we do love a good animal print, still.
Going along with the Hip Hop vibe I added lots of golden jewelry - chains on my neck and arm, just as chain elements in the bag.
Since I love to counterbalance my looks, I felt the need to add some feminine elements. For that I added a pearl necklace, put on some red lipstick, colourful nails and big statement sunglasses. (Fashion Hack) I also tied shoelaces around my ankles to mimic my usual slippers to be ballerina-ones, another trend you’ll see this year's summer. But it doesn’t always have to be a new pair of shoes directly. Sometimes it’s the laces of your winter boots, that will do the trick, hehe.
And there you have a spiced up shirt-denim combo!
For when it turns a bit more breezy in the evening, I topped the look with my black-white loose knit. One of those genuine pieces you’ll only find in vintage stores.
Now, on to our Yoko-Drip-Tip(s)!
This week we have more than one, since I didn’t update you for such a long time. <3
(TW - War) I think we all took a break to reflect upon the means of safety in your country and how much we should cherish and be grateful for the things we have and even much more; to know that our beloved ones are, mostly, safe. My thoughts are continuously with the ukrainians and I suppose that every person who is reading this has probably done the most you could already, but after processing the first shock, ukraine is still in need and while we live our lives in peace, the people there can not, still. I don’t want to go too much into detail, firstly, because I do not have the feeling to be someone as informed as you need to be, to give proper details. There are numerous qualified journalists that are doing a great job doing so. Secondly, because I felt on my own how much this topic can drain energy and take a toll on your mental health and I absolutely understand that people avoid confrontation concerning the war in order to keep themselves sane - so take this note just as a friendly reminder, a glimpse into my perception (there are much more thoughts I have, but as I said, this is not the right spot to place them) and here you'll find a link to an article that lists ways you can help.
Keep your heads up my friends, help the people who are in need as much as you can and just try to make this world a better place in the means you feel you can.
Sending hugs and love,
XX Yoko
