Hello hello my handsome toffee pies,
long time no see! The last weeks have been filled with adventures that included a trip to Hamburg and a lot of lovely people, with a lot of walking around and a lot of singing, dancing and laughing. And so much good food that I’m still reminiscing. And waiting for a chef to ring my doorbell, that is happy to announce that from now on he’ll only cook for me because I deserve it. Sad that this won’t happen, seems like a refrigerator-pizza-day for me tonight.
Well, and besides that I was lying sick in my bed, complaining about the boredom that surrounded me like the fly does the trash. And with trash I mean *me*, because even though we all know I am high-class trash, I really felt like trash in between. Our immune systems have gone so weak during the last one and a half years. My T-Cells were screaming in agony when they first met Party-Yoko and her far too cold night-out-outfits.
Speaking of too cold outfits for winter - let us dive into this weeks look! Inspired by my beloved Parisiennes and a little 50’s Vintage-Vibe we see a rather chic, kinda cheeky look that would serve you well for all kinds of afternoon activities. Might it be cinéma, un café, some petit-déjeuner (I take my breakfast at noon okay, this is a judge-free-zone) or giving the boy/girl (or any other gender that could be considered here) of your choice un Bisou cause he/she/... can’t keep the eyes of your revealing cleavage anyway. Might be intended. Might not. Your choice.
The inspiration behind this look was for me the skirt, as well as the coat and the lovely hat.
The coat you’re seeing is vintage I bought from Vinted a few months ago. It’s the classiest coat you could get, straight line, in the classiest colour you can imagine, brown. So it makes the perfect basic. I’m wearing this baby constantly at the moment, so naturally, I build my looks a bit around that.
The hat is also vintage, I once got it as a present. It is a black wool hat, that form-wise is to be classified somewhere in between a cloche (a bell-shaped french hat that came up during the 1920’s) and a bucket hat. Also something that I’m trying to wear more regularly, especially since it’s a nice way to switch out the beanie we are usually wearing in winter for keeping our heads warm.
The skirt on the other hand is something I wore in summer all the time. Since it fell into my hand yesterday and I really love the shape it gives, I thought - why not build an autumn/winter look around that?
Now in the beginning I already said this look might be a bit too breezy for current temperatures - but fashion isn’t always about what you’re wearing today or tomorrow. May this look spark a bit of inspiration in you and see what it conjures out of your closet. Nonetheless there naturally are a few tricks to make this look suitable for 10°C and colder.
Et vóila! Trés chic look, without freezing to death.
Quick look at the rest of the look - we see the most basic colours here, that's why the palette works so well together. White, Black and Brown. Easy! Though the white sparks a bit of light into our otherwise so much more dark winter looks.
The accessories I chose in black, to contrast the white and also because black indeed is the classiest colour of all of them - if you want to go a bit more chic and don’t know which colour, working with black accents always worked perfectly for me.
On top we add our brown coat - this makes the look perfect for the “afternoony-activities”, as it slows down the rest of the look. If you would’ve added a black coat instead, the look would be much more serious, for example.
Lastly, I rounded the look with golden statement earrings and natural make-up. You’re glowing so much in this classy elegance already, no need for crazy make-up here. And also I said, in the beginning, we are musing our french sisters here - they never get too crazy with anything and I think we can all cut a slice off of that. Okay, maybe I’m speaking more for myself on this note, hehe.
Yoko-Drip-Tip: Take a night-in! On the weekend! Since it is double the rest as taking a night in on the weekdays. Just did that last Friday (okay, I might’ve been forced by my cold to that BUT it did good to me). And then take a night-out! With your friends. And get good food. A rather unspectacular Yoko-Drip-Tip, but that's what wielded me through the last weeks.
If you want a bit more concrete recommendations: currently relistening a lot of Alt-J, RIN and the Tainted Love cover of Milky Chance (I actually don’t even like them that much but that cover is superb), I’m rewatching Friends for the fourth time and just started reading the invention of life of Hans-Josef Ortheil. That's it for now.
Have a lovely two weeks!!
