Hello there my sweet sugar crumbs,
two weeks ago since we saw each other, ‘eh? Did y’all miss me? I missed you, for sure! I already announced on the ‘gram, but didn’t lose a word about the changes on the blog here yet.
So quick explanation about the upcoming changes and the reasons behind: Firstly, probably the most important aspect, the regular blogpost will come only every second week from now on. The reason behind is that I was struggling a lot with time management during the last weeks. I started my full-time job in March, and in the beginning, I wasn’t completely worked in, so there was a bit of air to do my own stuff. But by now I am, and I enjoy working long time and throwing myself completely into the tasks that are supposed to be done, as I like to do it with almost everything that I’m doing. Since I don’t want anything to come short - neither my blog, nor my job, nor my precious Yoko-Time (you remember me saying I’m a social fucking butterfly? Yeh, I need to see people to feel healthy and happy) - I decided that I’m doing the posts every two weeks from now on. So you’re getting the whole lot of Yokolove in a post and nothing half-hearted. Since this is still somewhat of a creative project, I always have to find the balance – otherwise, my creativity is unable to breathe, and that results in a lack of good outfits and tell me, who got time for those? NO ONE.
Secondly, I’m trying to get a bit more into video cutting (it is a pain so far), so you’ll see the one or other Reel, therefore! At least I plan to do so. If my quick-private-coaching in video cutting on Thursday goes all well (thanks to my dear bummsi for teaching me, in this place. He’s a creative butterfly who not only can paint the finest neon-art, but also edit videos fairly well.). And lastly, I’ll try to produce a bit more Instagram-Content, for not being able to post every week. You might not think the pre-production of such a simple blogpost to be that time-consuming, but I’d say all in all it’s about 8-10 hours for one post – an Instagram Feed Post is a bit more quick and easy to handle. Nevertheless, the blog is my baby, not my Instagram feed. So don’t you worry, I’m not neglecting this sweetheart here, neither am I neglecting you my sweet bee, who’s reading this right now.
And now let us get back to why you’re actually here – some sweet and fine fashion. This weeks look is supposed to be effortless and easy, just as the title might already sang to you. When I was walking out of the house to take the pictures (forgetting my key because I’m a bloody idiot sometimes), my roomie walked in (lucky for me so I didn’t have to call the lockout service) and asked if I was about to do grocery shopping. And that is a perfect explanation for this look. It is an easy one, one you throw on when you don’t know what to wear, but want to feel comfortable. One that you can wear for shopping, but also just for taking a stroll and getting coffee. Nothing too special, but also not boring – it is effortless.
I do love and desperately need myself looks like this because I tend to overdress sometimes. And that’s absolutely fine and I love it, but every now and then there just isn’t the energy to look your whole lot of 150% amazing, but just your usual 145%. And that is the perfect time for looks like this. When you don’t feel like getting ready, too intense.
So, what do we need to pair for something effortless? Jeans and a top are a good basis. I detest looking boring, so naturally, we wanted to add a bit more spice to “just jeans and a top”. That’s why I went with white jeans. White jeans give you almost all the advantages of blue jeans, but they look way more interesting because not so many people are wearing them. Plus – I suppose 98% of you will have a white top in their closet. And that. Fits. Perfectly. When wearing white jeans just make sure they don’t have the cut of your favourite doctor. Just as well as I taught you about other jeans – make it a bit more loose in the year 2021. They can be flared, they can be straight cut, you name it. But skinny white jeans actually are a pain because white can enhance bumps and lumps, and you can avoid accentuating them by wearing loose white denim (not that we aren’t proud of our lumps and bumps, though!). Also – going with the “effortless”-theme, the wider the jeans, the more casual they appear.
On the top half, I wore a white neckholder crop top. Currently, I’m all the way into neckholder tops. If you’re a broad-shouldered girl like I am, you might as well want to try these, too, as neckholder work best on wide shoulders. I went with a cropped one, because of the contrast it creates with the skin colour, between the upper and downer parts of the look. Also, white for me in general is a must in summer. With white being the lighter contrast of our colour palette, it replaces the black of the winter and creates more light and reflection in your look – even if it’s raining all day like it is in Germany this week. Also, a big plus – not a single colour looks as good on tanned skin, as white.
As a top with jeans would’ve been a bit plain for a whole look, I went for a loose-fitting vintage denim jacket on top. Denim jackets, in general, are your best companion in summer – warm enough when it gets breezy but so airy that you won’t be completely soaked in sweat. I purposefully buttoned the jacket the wrong way, because it creates an interesting asymmetric shape.
For accessorizing I went with a big, black shopper and some black plateau sandals, that complement each other and round up the look, by giving it more depth. Now the last part is the make-up – and I went a bit mad here this day. For usual the only make-up I’m having for myself is a bit of foundation, my eyeliner, and a dip of highlighter here and there to get the ⁓glow⁓. Instead of leaving it by that, I went for a mixture of rose and peach coloured eyeshadows. The easier the look, the wilder you can get with your makeup. But keep it classy. Another eye-catcher are the bright yellow nails. In summer you can generally play with tiny pops of colour – might it be on the nails, the lips, the eyes, the bag, the shoes, … .
Coming to an end with this weeks YokoDripTip: get yourself some Coffee-Table-Books!
I went a bit crazy on the Sale at TASCHEN (a publisher for Coffee-Table-Books) this week, that’s why I thought of this. You don’t have to get seven as I did (there are also presents underneath the seven *cough cough*, don’t you judge me!!!), but one Coffee Table Book on your living room table, your drawer, or a windowsill makes so much of a room. I can not tell you why they bring so much delight, but they do. Not only my opinion but also of the other 245 people I talked to about it. You’ll also find those handsome big books on flea markets a lot - once those are happening again.
But enough from me by now, the post has become quite long again! As I said, I missed brabbling to you, hehe.
See you next time, sweeto.
