Hello bebés,
and a warm and lovely hug flying right out of the yoko-headquarters, today calling in from Karlsruhe, to you. The following pictures originated in this funny town my boyfriend moved to, too. Lovingly, he did the assistance in this shoot, bringing me coffee, strawberry-jam-filled croissants and took care that I didn’t get run over by a tram. What a precious sweetheart he is. (Actually, I was more afraid of him getting ran over, bc when I jumped up and ran to the side, he was slowly starting to make his stroll away from the rails??? Wild boy, I’ll tell ya).
You might tell that weather didn’t really have us this week, once again. But no, no. We’re not complaining. I actually pretty much like the grey/green contrast we see in a lot of the pictures. Me, being a crispy snowflake in front of the background, perfectly flows into the imagery, too. Now that I’m thinking about it, crispy snowflake might be the name of my next pet, or rather my potential stripper-name. *Chuckle*. Alright, let’s get into the serious business, bc honestly – there is not really a lot I can tell you about this week anyway anymore. It was just as slow as this post is going to be. So consider this as your sign to take yourself a break next week, too.
And now we hop into the outfit. Compared to other more pre-planned posts, there was actually not a lot that I had in mind styling this. This look is basically something, that I’d just grab out of my wardrobe. Not being something that is right on trend, not being very thought-through. But I think styles like this are particularly important for your wardrobe – something that just screams “me” and that you feel all the way comfortable in, without a lot of thinking. That’s why I thought, it’d be nice to share with you.
The eyecatcher in this look might be the white jeans, or actually now that I’m taking a closer look, just the white-whiteness all over. I tried breaking up the white with some black accents, topping the look with my camel-coloured trench, that the dear reader of this blog knows by now. APPARENTLY, I’m wearing this babyboy all the time. I think I don’t have to recall my deep love-affair with trenchcoats and the sweet classiness they bewitch every look with, all over again. They just do. I just love them. In spring I love how they make a look a bit lighter and warmer, especially when just wearing contrasts like the black and white I do in here. Another plus – they go along all well with my skin and hair colour.
Now to the other pieces – when wearing white on white you sometimes have to be a bit careful that you don’t seem like a careworker (not that that wouldn’t be sth to be proud of. If any careworker reads this – thank you so much, the society and world needs you deeply and I’m glad that you’re there and you don’t get the respect you deserve AND THAT MAKES ME REALLY SAD AND ANGRY). That’s why I think the breaking-up-with-black is pretty important.
So – I paired white balloon mom jeans with a white vintage blouse. A quick note on the blouse: I got it from my granny's wardrobe. Never underestimate the power of your granny and esp. not the fashion of old ladies. Since it is a piece of my granny, I felt the need to give it a bit more cheekiness. That’s why we see a lace body underneath, peaking out of the barely buttoned-up shirt. I sinched the waist with a black golden-buckled belt. Attention! The colour of the buckle gets important once we reach the accessorize-explanations. Shoe-wise I opted for my black loafers, because they make quite a good spring shoe, being neither too warm nor too cold. They also compliment the other smart pieces, but in a casual, not “too-wanted”- way.
The blouse is from my granny.
Never underestimate the power of your granny and especially not the fashion of an old lady.
I probably should clarify what I mean by “too-wanted”, but it’s quite hard to explain. Do you know the feeling when you’re seeing someone on the street, with quite a good look but it’s just… too much? Just a bit off. The best of us have been there, me too, but if possible, I tryyy to avoid this situation. Just like our dear Coco said, before leaving the house, remove one accessory. Okay, she talked about them jewels and I about shoes but anyway, I’ll stop ranting now. I’m far too often guilty in this case either, hehe. But fashion is fun, my friends. Let’s keep it so and don’t follow too many rules. (I still think about this quote quite often, though.).
Now to the accessorize – we are keeping it pretty simple this week. Considering the mix and match of different fabrics (lace, denim, cotton, wild-leather) the bling was only meant to go along well with the coat. That’s why I opted for warm colours. And there is the explanation why I chose the golden buckle. Otherwise, we don’t see a lot of jewelry, except for small golden hoops with tiny brown-flecked discs dangling down on each of them. It’s all about the details, baby.
Last but not least – Yoko-Drip-Tip-Time!
Take. Rests.
I already hinted at it in the Intro. I do see how many people around me don’t take their much-needed time for themselves. Might it be giving yourself a social-media-detox, or just not planning anything for one evening a week. You do you and what works best for you, but what you should definitely do is getting yourself some sweet and beloved Me-Time. My Boyfriend knows my Yoko-Time probably since the first weeks we met, because I cherish nothing more and I take it very seriously. I love being around friends, family, socializing - the whole game. But what I really do love and need, too, is some Yoko-Time. Only doing the things I really want. Means – eating good food (ok mostly, it’s ordering pizza), watching a show or a movie, taking a bath, reading shitty magazines. This stuff. And I never happened to notice anyone being mad at me for saying that I’m needing my Yoko-Time and therefore I’m out of whatever was planned. I think all of us know the conflict between obligations (including social obligations) and the wish for a break. Now all I want to say is – take that break. Everybody will understand. You’ll feel hella refreshed afterwards, and go on the next day. Nobody cares.
Before I’m switching into the all-pathetic mood again (I’m sorry ppl, I don’t know where that comes from at the moment. Maybe because it’s stormy outside and I’m going to sip on a glass of wine, soon and therefore getting all philosophical. Whoooopsie, hehe.) – I’m saying ciao ciao, stay as lovely as you are, ‘til next week!
