Hello my pretty pink panthers,
not much life update, since I just told you what was up last week. Spent a really nice time with some angels that visited me though, have been at the loveliest release celebration from Forward (listen to that bop of an EP, absolutely worth it) and had an excellent coffee on Sunday. This means that I absolutely didn’t do what adults are also meant to do, for instance throwing on the washing machine or cleaning my kitchen. Life is so unnervingly unglamorous, pfffff.
Postponing the look at the unglamorous sides of life once more, we will take a closer look at the next fall trend today instead.
Quickly pausing for applauding me that I am so good at adjourning things – your honor and members of the jury, please put on your hot pink robes and listen closely, because this lesson won’t be postponed. “Hot pink robes?” OH YES BABY, HOT. PINK. Not necessarily robes. You can also put on a suit instead.
This week we are combining two fall trends again. First, the sweet mixture of red and white. But in its spicyest combination. Hot Pink.
Now you might not exactly think of this colour when thinking about autumn first. Actually it was rather on the list for the spring/summer trends, recalling upon the love we first times had for this lovely shade back in the 80’s. Then Valentino and his fellitas and fellows proved us different on the Fall/Winter runways.
Bright colours stay, and why on earth wouldn’t they? The days might get darker, our mood maybe too, but our clothes oh no no no, hehe. Recalling upon a post I did this spring, where I talked a bit about dopamine dressing, we love to wear clothes that cheer us up. And if it doesn’t cheer ourselves up, maybe you make someone elses day by putting in a bit of light between all the blacks and greys on the street.
And how to best do so? Hot pink isn’t necessarily the easiest to combine. Our beloved contrasts black and white work perfectly well. You could also get a little colour blocking situation with yellows or bright greens, like I am here. If you want to tone it down little, different brighter shades of pink, like rosa, soften it up.
You could basically get every piece that you want in hot pink – For fall I’d recommend a statement coat, as you’ll probably get the most joy out of it over the colder days.
Trendwise, if you want to kill two birds with one stone (how brutal is this saying btw? sounds a bit softer in german), you could opt for a bright suit and that brings me to our next said so trend and back to the courtroom-scenery from the beginning. The suit.
Suits are probably one of the most seen items on runways every year, always in different variations. This year it wasn’t exactly about crazy cuts, but rather manic materials and crazy colours.
But then again, what is crazy? Grab yourself something extravagant and own it. Office fashion never has to be boring. And here is a big recommendation to not only wear suits at the office - if you bought the right one, it is indeed comfortable and talking for myself here, I barely feel as boss bitchy in anything else as in this suit.
Lastly, we take a quick look at my combination.
I paired my suit together with a plain white shirt. You know me, I can almost never get enough, so I added a corset for shape (actually another fall-trend, but we might dive into that a bit later this month *winkwink*). I also really enjoyed the combination of the bright green with the pink. Felt like a strawberry daiquiry with mint leaves for my eyes.
As if that hadn’t been enough bright colours, I added my bright orange Guess-Bag, and that, my friends, is how you colour block. Just add bright on bright on bright on bright piece. Make sure the pieces themselves don’t have too wild patterns, and everything will just play along.
For shoes I went with white dad-trainers, since I obviously wanted to keep the look a bit playful.
(and also a tiny challenge to myself) Write down a list of the things that you want. From life. For yourself. During the next three months. For the next two weeks. Whatever suits you.
I personally have the feeling that during seasonal change everybody is losing a bit track of themselves. Summer is ending, you don’t see your friends so much anymore, alone with yourself again, Vitamin D isn’t kicking, it all can add up to you feeling in a numbing state of lethargy.
I, personally, love goals. They can be very motivating and it might be the little boost of motivation that makes getting up when its all cold and dark a bit easier.
