Hey pumpkin,
now it is officially autumn. Though 21°C outside today (very good indeed, anyone up for a drink, walk and talk?). I just wanted to type that I love autumn, but to be honest, I love every season which makes the statement not exactly meaningless, but a little less expressive. But you know, I still do have one thing for every season that I love most, and for autumn it is the crispness of the air. Mhmmm. So yummy.
Anyway, besides this, lots of work and (apparently) steadily a little less pandemic but therefore more friends and friendly get2gathers, nothing new out of the yoko-headquarters. Next week momma is going to Berlin for a weekend trip and the birthday celebrations of a special little bun, so keep your eyes open for the snacky instastories.
But now let us dive into the magic of fall-fashion. I’m most delighted that I can unpack all of my pretty jackets and boots - you’re going to see a lot of this magic coming up in the next few weeks. In today’s look we detect at least one part of this - my favourite college jacket. In contrast to the last post, with a rather uncommon look that needs a bit of bravery, I decided to make this week's fashion more suitable for everyone. Especially for day-to-day time. So what we’re looking at is a very casual fit, most able to be worn to every occasion you can imagine on your afternoon, or, to a playdate. I don’t necessarily had a playdate shooting these pics, though there were two kids who were most excited to see me taking photos and in return wanted to impress me with their football skills - so with a lot of imagination, we could count this as a playdate and those kiddos as my two new friends!
NONETHELESS
Back to the fashion. As I wanted to go for a very, very comfortable look, I decided on lots of loose pieces. We see loose cream-coloured pants (which actually are a summer-wardrobe-survivor, since they’re partly linen fabric). I combined the pants with a loose vintage ribbed-turtleneck-tee. I always like the nonchalance of vintage pieces. They just dress you so easily - you look like you put thought and effort in there, though you just have a good piece that does all of the thinking for you. Huh, vintage shopping! My heart blossoms!
Quite uncommonly to me, I didn’t tuck the shirt into the pants. This just makes an extra loose, extra casual silhouette.
To keep the colour coding I paired the clothes with my Reebok-Original-Sneakers.
And now we come to the most fun part - spicing that look up! For looks that don’t necessarily enhance even the slightest bit of your silhouette, you need to add up the glam in another way. I did this by adding lots, and lots and even more lots of necklaces. A good necklace-layering automatically makes a look more interesting, because 1. It draws the eye on to your neck - which works perfectly well with turtlenecks anyway and 2. because we bring a contrasting colour to the rest of the outfit into play. And I said a good necklace-layering - best part of necklace layering is that it is the easiest to do and in 99% of times is a good layering already.
Recipe for a delicate necklace layering:
1. Take necklaces of the same colour family (gold OR silver)
2. Pick youself out 3 - 5 necklaces of different lengths and shapes
3. Put them on your delicate neck.
Et vóila!
Since I can’t ever get enough bling and feel unpleasantly naked without them, I naturally added my beloved hoops, too. And also an ankle chain. Who’s going to stop me from decorating myself like a Christmas tree, huh? No one because they’re afraid because I’m the reborn femme-version of Mr.T. HAH, NOW COME AND GET ME.
The last spice I added was fishnet tights underneath the pants. They don’t serve a specific purpose, it’s just something I like to do every once in a while. But the look works perfectly well without them and some tennis socks instead.
Though it is 21° outside today, fall is rather famous for the dropping temperatures, so we necessarily need a jacket to keep us cozy and healthy like our moms wish us to be. I added my vintage college jacket to do so. I went for this one since its boxy shape aligns perfectly well with the not-given silhouette in this look. Also, the brown colour just works perfectly in autumn. Big plus - it is also so comfortable, that I could sleep in this jacket.
Lastly, I went for a cream-coloured tiny bag - a tiny one to make it a look look. You just appear more put together with small bags, somehow. And for makeup I just added a popping orange lipstick, that goes along with the nail colour to have that tiny bit of colour in the otherwise rather muted look.
Quick Yoko-Drip-Tip to end this week’s rant - go to the cinema. And preferably watch Dune, but you can watch any other movie, too. But Dune was really, really good - strongly recommend. And if you want the prime-experience: Previously watch the Arte-Documentary about the Dune movie that was once to be made, but never produced. It is very interesting to be able to compare the visions of earlier times with what Denis Villeneuve made of it.
