Bon jour jolie amie,
since we’ve probably had the last real hot and sunny day for a long, long time, I wanted to grant you with a last shy glance at one of my most beloved pieces this summer – the crochet unitard.
On the other hand, considering I’m the biggest stan for jackets (momma’s got a sweet collection with well over twenty pieces and she loves every single one just like the other), I’m most excited for autumn. The reawakening of jacket-season is the one part that will always bring sparkles to my eyes in autumn. The next, and more recent joyous discovery that excites me in our temperature drop, are boots. Considering the title of this week's post, they are the main character here today, anyway.
I’ve never been too much into boots since I always thought you need to be a certain kind of type to really rock them. I still think this statement is true in parts, but I also think I’ve grown into a woman who can wear them... without looking like your scary former class teacher or a sex worker. And I’m sure, that you’d rock some shiny chic pair, too. The good thing about boots is that they come in all shapes and sizes. May it be knee-highs, over knees, one’s to tie, platform boots, black ones, brown ones, pointed, square-toed, … the options are near-infinite. We are concentrating on a very classic type of boot today – a black, knee-high boot.
Who knows me knows that the number one rule for interesting fashion to me is, that you’ll take a piece that in itself is classic, but instead of really buying the basic one, you’ll buy one, that has that tiny bit of extra-extra. For the handsome bootbabys you’re seeing here, it is that they’ve got the small heel, have the tiniest point at the toes, and a widened shaft.
Indeed, probably not the most flattering choice for my kind of legs, but when you feel like the prettiest puss in boots, definitely a reason to keep them. No matter the body shape.
Into the outfit!
As previously mentioned, I wanted to combine the last bit of summer with my excitement for autumn. Bringing sunrays and light into the look, I decided on the unitard. With its crochet-upper-half, it is letting me reminisce about all the good open-air adventures I had in the warmer months. Also, considering the crochet-colours white, blue and yellow, it brings a nice touch of colour into the rest of the, rather mute-coloured, look.
Although, the autumn-pieces overweigh. We see a lightweight camel-coloured Trenchcoat, that covers the otherwise rather breezy back, once the sun sets its sails. Next autumn-pieces are the already best-described boots.
To round up the look I added a black handbag, that goes along with the shorts and the boots, but also, and primarily, adds the yet missing piece of glam. Why so? Because of the gold chain and buckle. The bag-body itself is a very classical box-shape, which brings in some quiescence.
I liked the idea of the look, because the unitard and boots are a quite brave and playful combination - showing a lot of skin, pointing out especially the legs. Yet, the combination with coat and bag are slowing the look down again, making it more adult.
Not quite so visible in the pictures, but nevertheless as important, I wore a natural-coloured make up. Consisting mainly of brown eyeshadows and warm contouring. The earthy colours in combination with the open brown hair and the coat aligning.
Lastly, what would a new post be without a motivational, life-coaching, cringy Yoko-Drip-Tip? Nooothing. This week's one is: Get yourself that piece you were afraid to buy. One of the main reasons I’m jumping out of bed every morning is the excitement to be able to try new things, experience something new, learn something new, whatever – the main point is that there can’t be stagnation. And you’re stagnating, when you’re afraid, to try new things. Get over that. And where would it be easier, then with a shirt, a boot, a bag? Just try, just have fun.
As usual, I’m wishing you the loveliest day.
Hugs and Kisses!
