Hey handsome,
nice to see your nose again. Or, for the first time. If so – hello there! Today we have a rather unconventional (?) post. For usual I try to take my pics in broad daylight, soaking up every sunbeam that’s trying to destroy my skin. Woosh, that was dark. This week I decided to catch the leftover afternoon rays, and it was beautiful, lemme tell you. Well, well, well. If I’m being completely honest it was more a coincidence than a decision, because hence to the move of my boyfriend (for further information I’m directing you to the last post) I had to get a corona test, but the girl you see here also is working hard for the money (♫), so between work, corona-test, rainy days, moving-preparations and everyday-life I had to press my shoot somewhere in this week. But there you go, I think it turned out quite lovely, and we do love a good change here and there, right?
Actually, in terms of changes, lets dive a bit deeper into that topic, later this week. I thought that the last posts seemed to be quite pretty, but a bit superficial just talking about my magnificent ass. Not that my bum isn’t and also not that this blog isn’t about fashion, but I do suppose a good topic that makes you think about the one or other thing here and there wouldn’t hurt. So, at some point, we are doing this and I’m still thinking about where to bind this in properly. Stay tuned.
So-ho-ho, let us take a look at this week's outfit first. Whoever said that you shouldn’t wear dresses over jeans? What do you say? Me? Continuously for long, long years? Oh yes baby, and you are damn right. I actually parted with this kind of style when watching Hannah-Montana wasn’t a thing and she not a style-icon to the eleven-year-old Yoko anymore. But when I learned just one little thing about fashion, then it is that you should never say never, ever. It occurred so often to me that I detested something on the first, second, and maybe on the third time I saw it, but on the fourth, I had a sparkling idea for a look.
Reasons for that? Just like life and the dizillions of circles that never stop wheeling over and over again in life, fashion for sure is one, too. And just as it is with circles, you go one way, and then the other comes around again and everything comes and goes and comes again, it suddenly happens that you start to like something. Though you thought you’d never (again). I could dive deeper into this topic, too, but I’m leaving the “Reasons-Why-We-Don’t-And-Do-Like-Stuff-Again” for another point. But I do grant you today with my fine interpretation of how to wear dresses over jeans. Though I thought I’d never (again).
When I learned just one thing about fashion, then it is that you should never say never, ever.
I wanted to classify this look in something like “chique” or “office-y” or “casual”, but I don’t think any of this really fits. This is a look that you can basically wear to a lot of occasions if worn with the right confidence. But confidence is quite the important aspect here. Well, it kinda is with every look, but especially when wearing something that could be considered weird. Like dresses on trousers which miiight be considered as a brave decision in 2021, still. It isn’t weird and it won’t feel weird if you throw it on and walk over the streets as they all belong to you and like every view you get is exactly where it’s supposed to be – on you one-of-a-kind, sparkling, snacky person. You know this walk-like-a-badass-feeling you have sometimes when having a good song on your ears? THAT’S the feeling we want to achieve.
And how do we do that? Showstopping looks for sure. One of them being this one. We are seeing an A-Line blouse dress – sinched in with a black belt, a relaxed fitting ripped jeans, a bomber-jacket, black loafers, a tiny black handbag and a bit of gold jewellery, matching the belts buckle (and the afternoon sun).
This outfit all over is a play with the body shape again. You can’t really make out a lot of bodily figures, that is why it is so versatile in its occasion. It makes you look casual because it isn’t tight at any point, but put together, because of the smart pieces (dress, shoes). Also, this works so well, because it’s not really something you will see on somebody else but yourself when strutting over the streets. Generally, it is such an easy, easy, easy and COMFORTABLE look. I mean, if we change out of our sweatpants, then at least make it comfortable, right? And what could be more comfortable than shuffling off the worry of getting cold legs or someone seeing your panties at the slightest wisp of wind? You don’t even have to tie the belt on your waist so heavily that you can’t breathe, it’s just there to give you the least bit of shape, which really isn’t hard to do considering the other outfit-parts.

The pieces themselves are all basics, except for the jacket. When going for a look that is quite out of our usual comfort-zone it can help to start off with basics, that you feel comfortable in anyways. Two other good things about basics are –
1. They mostly match each other easily
2. You might have all the ingredients for this look right on hand!
Now to the pieces themselves - As the blouse-dress actually is just an elongated white shirt, it fits everything. As I said so often. And the blue jeans… do I need to explain those? I don’t think so, but if you’re worried: The. Basic. The. Classic. The. One. And. Only. Go. To. Translates to: GOES WITH EVERYTHING. Also, jeans just make you always look a bit nonchalant, I do enjoy that facette a lot when playing around together with smart pieces.
A classic black belt and black loafer work with everything, too. Just make sure you add your jewelry according to the same colour of your statement piece, which in this case, is the buckle. If I was to wear big statement-earrings, then I’d pair the buckle like those. You get the idea. Now the jacket I added to give a cool contrast. By now, we all know that I like to show off how snazzy I feel most days. But maybe I also just wanted to show off this absolutely stunning piece of a jacket I bought in the sale of WEEKDAY. I leave it to you, to figure this out, hehe.
Well, the last thing I want to point out is the decision for the small bag instead of the big shopper that I’m usually wearing – and it is simply because of the contrast. Everything else on this outfit is very big and bulky, tone things down somewhere else in your look. I also think not only loafers, but mules would do a great job with the look. Hah, now easier done than said, you’ve got an exquisite spring-look together.
But hey, hey, where’s the weekly Yoko-Drip-Tip? Here it is my friend – When not able to get out of bed, get yourself music on! This is so simple but yet so effective. Even when I don’t really have time in the morning I do this, to kickstart myself. Getting ready (showered, dressed, maybe a bit make-up’ed) without music is so heavily uninspirational. Most of my looks I do connect with a specific song that I’m just vibing with heavily on that day. For this look it was one of Lana’s (del Rey) new album.
Try it out next week. Let me know how it went. Who knows me knows I love a good chitchat, so write me on the ‘gram.
HAVE A CHARMING WEEK!
