Hello, my handsome fellows behind the screen,
This week has been rather turbulent for me. Starting off in a new job, my sleep schedule has turned drastically from “Let's stay awake until 4 AM doing absolutely nothing” to “Let's fall in bed super exhausted at 10 PM”. Otherwise, I don’t really remember what happened this week, to be absolutely honest. I’ve been pretty sucked up by my work since starting on Monday, but believe me when I tell you I’d love to hear some interesting news from the outer world. Well, pandemic doesn’t make it easy to tell or hear news anyways, so naturally, I didn’t got any tea from the few other people I talked to. (Friendly reminder: I am RUNNING on gossip, so if you got something spicy to tell-You know how to slide into my DMs).
For starting a new job I gifted myself a new pair of sneakers. Not exactly new, but thrifted (we love ourselves a good natural cycle of use and re-use, ‘aight!) I got these lovely FILA Disruptors. I almost didn’t took them off since I got them. For two reasons. One – compared to the shoes I’m generally wearing, these rather feel like a cushion of love. Meaning they are heavenly comfortable. Two – they are THE chunky sneaker I’ve been looking for, for a very, very long time. What comes in quite handy is that they aren’t even that expensive, especially when buying them thrifted, and also that they are not at all heavy. So you can sway over the floors as if wearing just socks. Lovely!
But who would I be, leaving the house completely in sports attire? Well, it isn’t quite like “me” because who knows me knows that sporty isn’t exactly my kind of look. For usual I’m more on the side of classy clothes, but tributing to Lady Di’s (especially lately beloved) cool sports attire, this combination just so fell into my hands. But as I said – I’d never, ever ever ever, leave the house in sweatpants or similar. So obviously I found the one or other way of making things a bit smarter.
On the sporty side, we see the FILA Sneakers combined with tennis socks and the very oversized Hoodie. One might guess that the cycling shorts are sporty, too. Actually, they are made of a rather trousery-fabric. Making me at least feel more dressed. Though they don’t lose comfort in any way to actual cycling shorts.
But what do we do now, to elaborate this look? First of all, we add a very bolt lip colour, preferably matching the nails. Next up, get a cool handbag. I opted for a shiny, big shopper. A small one wouldn’t really contribute to the loose silhouettes you see with the rest of the look, but the shiny-ruffly-details on the shopper add some more interesting detail. Might be because of the break they make on the sportiness.
On top I put a black Trenchcoat, which also goes along with the loose cuts. Underneath the shorts we (yet again) wear some black tights. For accessorize I just added some small silver hoops, which compliment the urban-vibe and a few, small rings. I am sure, that big sunglasses would also do this look (and your own sass) some good indeed.
Generally, it’s a very chunky, blunt look. But it is also deliciously comfortable and as I said – when I can make sporty-styles wearable for the outside, you can definitely, too. I think the key really is to balance the look out with your Make-Up. And it is not even a difficult composition you need to gather on your face.
So, I’m taking this lovely baby blue sweater now (I didn’t even talk about the gorgeous colour of this yet, isn’t this the dream of a baby-blue?) and snuggle up on my couch, because the day I’m writing this (Far too late on Saturday night. Don’t judge me.) it suddenly started snowing again? The weather is wild, just like the rest of this year.
See you next week my pretty dear,
XX Yoko
